Texting, fax and meetings
How do video meetings work and do guests need an account?
Video meetings run inside the 3CTel desktop and mobile apps. You create a meeting, share the link, and guests join from their browser without creating an account or installing anything. A dial-in number lets people who are driving or on a poor connection join by phone. Meetings support screen sharing and chat, and the host controls who is admitted and who is muted.
Starting and joining a meeting
Any user can start an instant meeting from the app or schedule one for later. The invite contains a web link and a dial-in number with a meeting code. Guests click the link, enter their name and join in the browser. Your own staff can join from the app, where their business phone and the meeting are in one place.
- Guests do not need an account or a download.
- Join by phone using the dial-in number and meeting code.
- Share your screen or a single window.
- In-meeting chat for links and notes.
- Host controls: admit, mute, remove, and lock the meeting.
When to use video, when to use a call
Video is useful for walkthroughs, demonstrations and anything where a shared screen saves time. For a quick two-person conversation, a normal call is faster to start and works on any connection. Because both live in the same app, a call can be turned into a meeting when a screen needs to be shared.
Practical tips
- Use a headset or the desk phone's handset for audio; laptop microphones pick up room echo.
- Prefer a wired or 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection for the host.
- Send the dial-in number in the invite so a guest with a slow connection can still take part.
- Test a scheduled meeting once before using it with a client.
Meeting capacity and recording options depend on your plan and are confirmed during planning. A 3CTel specialist can tell you what is included.
Related questions.
Can guests join from a phone without video?
Yes. Every meeting includes a dial-in number and code, so a guest can join by ordinary phone call and hear the meeting audio. They will not see the shared screen but can take part in the discussion.
Do meetings work on the mobile app?
Yes. Staff can host or join from the 3CTel mobile app on iOS or Android, including screen viewing. For a long meeting, a laptop or desk setup is more comfortable, but the phone works for joining on the move.
Are video meetings included or an add-on?
Video is part of the 3CTel apps for users on plans that include it. What is included, and any limits on participants or recording, is set out on your quote before activation.
